Ventures Guide | What Are They & Are They Worth It?
Ventures are something that you can start once you reach a certain level for a handful of professions. Their minimum requirements will typically be way higher than the usual AFK activities that you unlock as soon as you hit level 20, granted you have knowledge points for those.
To find these activities, you must look for the hourglass icons in the map. You have probably already seen some of them as early as the first episode, since you have no doubt run past the lobster and oyster nodes at some point.
In order to check when you can start doing ventures, open the professions menu and then pick your desired skill. Just scroll down all of the unlocks until you find the hourglass icon, which indicates that it is a venture.
Combat professions do not have ventures, so if you plan on training those passively, just go for the AFK mobs indicated by the blue icon or train it actively like most people prefer to do. Several other professions (such as cooking) do not seem to have ventures either, so make sure to check each of them first!
This feature becomes even more prominent in episode 4, which is the region of Crenopolis. This is fairly deep into the game, and you will need many hours worth of grinding to eventually reach it the point where you can take advantage of them.
IMPORTANT: Episode 3 and above are only available to premium pass subscribers. In the event that you are reading this and are not paying the monthly subscription, professions and their respective ventures in those areas will not be available to you.
The merchant profession in particular has a fairly easy to unlock venture, as its first one comes at just around level 21. This is where we should also note that these activities can cost you certain resources.
For example, the level 21 venture for merchant will cost you a bit of silver to start. After that, you just have to wait for the specified amount of time before returning to where you started the venture to claim your rewards.
The tangible rewards will depend on the venture itself, but the most important part is that you will be given a lot of EXP as well. This is the main appeal of doing these, as any bit of experience can help with the long grinds of this game.
The time to complete these ventures can vary from several hours to at least a whole day. The Summerview Grapes that you unlock at merchant level 21, for instance, will require a full 24 hours to finish.
Finally, at the current version of the game as of writing this, players only have access to two venture slots. Because of this, you should pick your ventures carefully if you want to be very efficient about it and not have to check in at odd hours.
Some ventures, like the ones for the mining profession, might require quest completions as well. This adds yet another layer of things to consider as you weigh your passive training options. The costs of doing them will vary, but they are typically worth it as money is easy to farm.
Since the game is still very much in early access, there is a chance that this feature will be expanded or even completely revamped as time goes by. More of them will undoubtedly be added in future episodes too.
A common suggestion right now is to reduce the time needed to complete certain ventures. With how receptive the developers have been to feedback, we might just see stuff like Summerview Grapes drop to half a day or so. No guarantees, though.
